From The CEO...
Hello, I established LCGA in April 2009 for several important reasons. Most importantly, I wanted to create a place dedicated to aiding the less fortunate. A lifetime of volunteering for my church and through other venues has helped me realize how much I have to give and how much one person, when dedicated, can do to positively affect their community. I was inspired to initiate my own organization because I, unlike some larger non-profits, can more easily maintain low overhead cost and guarantee that the contributions will be used for the cause. Additionally, “I strongly believe in paying it forward”. I believe that our lives are blessed and helping others allows us to pay it forward. Part of our focus is not only to help those less fortunate but to use the organization to show others (especially the younger generation of volunteers) the importance of paying it forward and giving back to their communities.
Not long after LCGA, Inc. was officially formed, the devastating earthquake hit Haiti. Although I was born in New York, my family is originally from Haiti and I had several family members affected by the disaster. The earthquake survivors were in desperate need of assistance. This unfortunate event spawned the first LCGA event, a Haiti fundraiser held in mid 2010 in New York. Due to the ongoing needs in Haiti resulting from the earthquake including the current Cholera epidemic, LCGA, Inc. is committed to ongoing efforts in support of Haiti’s recovery.
Although events in Haiti jump started LCGA’s operation, the organization is a place that will not limited to one group of individuals or limited to specific needs but a place that serves all people and all needs within our ability to do so. Although this is challenging with limited resources, the commitment and dedication that I have seen from the officers and volunteers is inspiring and gives me the strength to move LCGA closer to that goal.
Thank you for the opportunity to share my vision and for visiting the LCGA website. If you are a visiting donor, I thank you personally for your generosity. With your help, LCGA will continue to grow, closer each year, to our goals and increase the number of lives touched by providing much needed love, care, guidance and assistance. Please be a part of this growth and support LCGA efforts.
Warmly,
Cyndy Joseph
